A musical episode combining the casts of The CW’s “The Flash” and “Supergirl” has been promised since last summer, and Warner Bros. Television has announced the first official details — including when fans can expect it.
The musical episode is titled “Duet,” and will take place on the March 21 edition of “The Flash,” with a lead-in on the March 20 episode of “Supergirl,” similar to how last fall’s four-show crossover between The CW’s DC Comics-based shows kicked off with a short lead-in scene on “Supergirl.” This falls roughly a year after the first TV meeting between “The Flash” and “Supergirl,” which happened on the “Worlds Finest” episode of “Supergirl” in March 2016.
“Duet” will be directed by Arrowverse veteran Dermott Downs, who has helmed multiple episodes of “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” The episode will include musical numbers from “The Flash” stars Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin and Carlos Valdes; “Supergirl” stars Melissa Benoist and Jeremy Jordan; and “Legends of Tomorrow” co-star Victor Garber and “Arrow” regular John Barrowman, showing that the episode will also include Arrowverse vets known for their singing chops, even if they aren’t part of the “Supergirl” and “Flash” casts. “Supergirl” actors David Harewood and Chris Wood will also appear on “Duet,” in “non-singing guest star appearances.”
Earlier this month, “The Flash” and “Supergirl” executive producer Greg Berlanti confirmed that song-based villain the Music Meister will be the antagonist of the episode.
Much of the “Supergirl” and “The Flash” casts have prior musical experience, making such an episode a natural fit — titular stars Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin both performed on “Glee,” Jesse L. Martin originated the role of Tom Collins on Broadway in “Rent” among many theater roles, Carlos Valdes played Andrej in “Once,” and Jeremy Jordan has performed on Broadway and co-starred in the film version of “The Last 5 Years.”
Your favorite CW shows are back this new year with new episodes!
New episodes of The Flash return Tuesday, January 24 on The CW!
The Flash, fittingly, was quick to secure a renewal for the 2017-18 TV season — as were six other CW series. The network kicked off its Sunday appearance at the Television Critics Association winter press tour by announcing the seven shows had earned early renewals, including the aforementioned The Flash as well as Jane the Virgin (both of which will be heading into Season 4), Supernatural (for a lucky Season 13) and Arrow (now targeting Season 6). Additionally, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and CBS import Supergirl all will be back for Season 3.
“Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas,” network boss Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. “Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long.”
The Flash is The CW’s top series, averaging a 1.2 demo rating — which equals or bests 22 of the Big 4 network dramas — and more than 3 million weekly viewers (in Live+Same Day ratings); Supergirl follows with 2.7 mil and a 0.9. Arrow, Legends and Supernatural tie for third, each averaging a 0.7 rating season-to-date.
It has been announced by PaleyFest just a few hours ago that The Flash would be heading to PaleyFest, along with Arrow, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow! We don’t have yet a confirmation of which members of the cast will be attending the event but hopefully, Grant is one fo them!

Long gone is 2016 as we welcome a New Year just a few days ago. Our first post of the year is a YEAR IN REVIEW inspired by my friends Gabby from jaredleto.net and Luciana from amyadamsfan.com. A little late, but we just couldn’t help but review Grant’s career in this past year.
2016 brought us more of The Flash but that wasn’t all, as Grant joined the cast of upcoming movie Krystal, which he filmed right after wrapping up season 2 of our favorite CW superhero show!
